The challenge
c. elegans EM reconstructions of the nerve ring are complex shapes that are laborious and time consuming to acquire and digitize. These data sets are therefore not produced often. When they are produced, it is helpful to make it easy to share these data with other researchers that can use them as a foundation for their own research.
What did MetaCell do?
MetaCell worked with the lab of Dr. Daniel Ramos-Colon and graduate student Noelle Koonce to build a web application that enables collaborators to build selected 3D visualizations from combinations of nerve ring neuron reconstructions in 3D space. The visualizations may be explored in the application, screenshots and movies may be downloaded, or download of the raw 3D files are enabled.
How it works
This application utilizes Geppetto for visualization and builds on MetaCell CloudHarness technology to enable cloud deployment. The application also allows subsequent data sets to be made available as they are produced.
